NOVA Chemicals Commits $100,000 for Hurricane Ida Relief Efforts

Calgary, AB (September 9, 2021) – Following the devastating impacts of Hurricane Ida last week, NOVA Chemicals Corporation (“NOVA Chemicals”) has pledged more than $100,000 in support of the region’s recovery efforts. This commitment includes direct donations to the American Red Cross and the Capital Area United Way, along with local outreach and an employee relief fund to assist with immediate needs and essential items.

“Louisiana is the backbone of the petrochemical industry in the United States, and we are grateful that our employees in Geismar are safe and accounted for.  It has been devastating to witness the impacts of Hurricane Ida, and we are committed to working with our local community to begin the process of healing and rebuilding,” stated Luis Sierra, President and CEO.

NOVA Chemicals proudly employs more than 300 people in the region and supports neighboring community programs through our annual United Way campaign, local scholarships and active involvement with East Iberville Industry Neighbor Companies (East Iberville INC), a local non-profit supporting East Iberville parish schools, food pantry, community outreach and a Senior Citizen Center.
