A Summary of Our Success
A typical workday is different for everyone. But no matter what your role is, you can expect an environment that will inspire you to excel. Meet some of our employees and get a better idea of what a day with us might look like.
Business Development,NOVA Chemicals Head Office
In my current Ethane Business Development role, I manage NOVA Chemicals’ Manufacturing West Pipeline and Storage Facility Contracts in addition to developing new business relationships within our Infrastructure business.
Every day is different and includes a mix of scheduled and ad hoc meetings, often meeting with our external partners to discuss our agreements.
I may have meetings and presentations to discuss risks and opportunities to our Infrastructure portfolio; meetings offer a great opportunity for collaboration, brainstorming and decision making.
I have two young children who keep my life outside of work quite busy with lessons (swimming, music, tae kwon do); when I have time to myself, I enjoy running, yoga, cooking and baking. Despite, what’s going on, we always find time to go outside.
Pipeline Technician, Joffre
I help ensure that all aspects of the pipeline are running smoothly by monitoring stations (e.g., valves, equipment, etc.) and reporting foreseeable issues.
Check meters to ensure gas is being extracted according to applicable standards.
Head to the block valve station to make sure all valves are operating properly and perform repairs or preventative maintenance activities.
Seek out talented hockey players as a scout for the Spokane Chiefs Hockey Club.
I work directly with customs agencies, customs brokers and our customers to ensure that our cross-border shipments and other activities are on time and comply with all regulatory requirements.
See if I have any requests or urgent matters pending at the border. After that, I address non-urgent issues such as tariff rulings and temporary import bond closures.
Work on new customs programs or enforcement initiatives to enhance border and supply chain security.
Spend time with my family and friends!

Process Safety Engineer, Beaver ValleyExpandable Styrenics Plant
As a Process Safety Engineer, I facilitate risk assessments through engineering design and preventive management practices, ensuring that the operations of systems and processes are always safe.
Attend the daily site operations meeting to stay up-to-date on plant production and conditions, and to provide guidance on hazards, regulatory requirements and corporate guidelines.
After eating lunch with some co-workers, I meet with contractors and operators to evaluate the fire detection systems in our elevator machine rooms.
Go home to relax for a while, then do some volunteer work for a non-profit organization. We’re developing sustainable projects for schools in Uganda. I also like to ride my motorcycle when it’s nice out!
