COSMO® ENVIRONMENTAL WASTE CONTAINERS HELP KEEP GROUNDS CLEAN AT BAMA JAM MUSIC FESTIVAL
May 4, 2010COSMO® Environmental Waste Container Solutions were recently featured in one of the nation’s largest Country music festivals. The waste containers were used to keep grounds clean and encourage concertgoers to pick up their trash at the Verizon Wireless Bama Jam Music and Arts Festival June 3-5 in Alabama.
In a collaborative effort, COSMO Container Solutions worked with Martin Environmental Services Inc., a local waste and recycling company and COSMO customer, to place the containers near drink kiosks throughout the food and beverage pavilions. COSMO and Martin also provided 150,000 plastic trash bags to encourage attendees to collect their trash and keep concert grounds clean.
Lightweight, durable, and low-maintenance, COSMO Environmental Waste Containers are a sustainable option for the waste and recycling industries. They deliver superior functionality, durability, and aesthetics compared to traditional steel, aluminum and other plastic dumpsters.
The event had an estimated 300,000 attendees and was created to celebrate human spirit through music and arts and to provide financial support to the people of Coffee County and the surrounding area. Throughout the day, the trash pickup initiative was promoted by the performers on stage and through an interactive, animated clip demonstrating how easy it is to be green. Concert officials estimate the amount of debris to be collected during this three-day event at more than 70 tons.
Quotes
“Being a part of Bama Jam was a great experience. We were able to contribute to a solution to keep the concert environment and Alabama clean,” said Alan Schrob, Director New Business Development for NOVA Chemicals.
“Attending allowed us to put our containers to use to effect how consumers react to a more sustainable dumpster,” continued Schrob. “The approach we took with Martin clearly confirmed that our waste containers, the handing out of bags and broad messaging to concert goers are valuable for these types of outdoor concerts.”
“This is the second year Bama Jam has gone ‘green’ and having the COSMO Environmental Waste Containers on site, only helped us further our commitment to making these events a sustainable and safe atmosphere,” said Kelvin Seldon, Bama Jam representative.
According to Jim Martin, President of Martin Environmental Services, Inc., “we were pleased with how clean the concert grounds remained thanks in part to COSMO Containers. The containers are lightweight, quiet, attractive and easy to push around the concert grounds.”
