Beaver Valley was built by the U.S. government in 1942 and was used for producing synthetic rubber raw materials. More than 18 years later, it began producing DYLITE® EPS resins. The site was fully integrated under the ARCO Chemical name in 1981 and was purchased by NOVA Chemicals in 1996. Today, Beaver Valley manufactures ARCEL® advanced foam resin for packaging high-value consumer products. A series of planned capacity expansions has taken global ARCEL production to 100 million pounds. Beaver Valley also produces EPS for the newest performance product,IMx™ technology, a unique technology that is used to manufacture in-mold labeled EPS cups and containers.
The Beaver Valley site has the capacity to manufacture close to 475 million pounds
(209 kilotonnes) of plastic resins per year. Products are manufactured in pellet or bead forms using NOVA Chemicals' proprietary product and process technologies. product transportation to customers includes truck, rail and sea bulk, and when necessary,
in refrigerated trailers that are placed on trains, flatbeds or barges.
