Recycling Options
Pre-Consumer Recycling:
DYLARK resin has been reclaimed and recycled from rejected in-plant manufacturing instrument panels and trim offal for more than 10 years. Up to 20% of DYLARK reclaim can be blended with 80% virgin fiberglass-reinforced resin to mold instrument panel substrates that comply with OEM material specifications. During the process, offal scrap is mechanically ground into a particle size, similar to that of normal plant regrind, which frees the DYLARK resin from the urethane foam and vinyl skin. Through an air or liquid-separation process, the DYLARK recyclate is recovered consistently with a 99% purity rating.
To date, the process reclaimed more than 5 million pounds of DYLARK resin. The reclaim process significantly reduces environmental impact, use of landfill space and lowers manufacturing and waste management costs.
Post-Consumer Recycling:
Post-consumer instrument panel recycling is not commercially available. Although salvage yards dismantle vehicles and recover approximately 75–80% of the metal and workable parts, an economical recovery process of instrument panel resins is not yet available.
