NOVA Chemicals has a rich history, with roots beginning more than 50 years ago in southeastern Alberta, Canada, as The Alberta Gas Trunk Line Company. On July 2, 1998, NOVA Chemicals Corporation was launched as an independent, publicly traded chemical company.

Today, NOVA Chemicals produces plastics and chemicals that are essential to everyday life. Our current businesses and joint ventures focus on two product chains: ethylene and polyethylene - styrene and polystyrene. Our industry is capital intensive and cyclical — and the key determinant of profitability is the balance of supply and demand for our products.
